Questions
1 / Can I bring my dog to the cabins?
Yes, we welcome dogs to Cottlass and Longdown cabins. We keep Slate Park pet free.
2 /What are the differences between the three cabins?
All three cabins are the same size and have the facilities and therefore are the same price. The main difference is their unique locations and views and so we designed the layouts to best match with each view. Slate Park gets the morning and afternoon sunshine, Longdown gets the best midday sun with some morning and some evening depending on the time of year, and Cottlass gets afternoon and evening sun including the sunsets.
3 / Is there parking?
Yes, each cabin has its own private parking area next to the cabin.
4 / Can I come by public transport?
Yes of course! The closest train station is Ivybridge, and the second closest is Totnes or Plymouth. There are direct trains from London to Ivybridge, and from there its a 15-20 minute taxi to The Land Devon. Local taxi companies know the cabins so let us know when you book if you are coming by train and we will share some recommended taxi numbers.
5 / Can I walk to any local shops or pubs from the cabins?
Yes, Modbury town is just a mile away and there are three well-used footpaths from the cabins down into the high street avoiding the roads. Modbury is a beautiful Georgian market town with a variety of independent shops, cafes, pubs, delicatessen and farm shop.
6 / Are there beaches nearby?
There are many stunning sandy beaches along the South Devon coast, our closest including Mothecombe, Bigbury, Bantham and South Milton. Some local beaches have large car parks, cafes and also beach activities like surf schools and paddleboard hire.
7 / Do you welcome babies or children?
Unfortunately we are not able to host babies or children. With the various risks of hot tubs and stoves as well as being on a working farm The Land Devon is an adults only retreat.
8 / Do you offer one night stays or check-in on different days to what the booking system shows?
We have a a two night minimum stay and as we are only a small team currently run changeovers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so check in days are aligned to this. For longer stays we may be able to make exceptions so please contact Laura to see what we can do!
9 / Do you provide logs for the hot tub and charcoal for the BBQS?
Yes, we provide ready to light charcoal for the BBQS, and natural fire starters, kindling and logs for the indoor stove and wood fired hot tub and provide detailed instructions on how to light them. We are not able to pre-light the hot tubs before arrival as we cannot leave fires unattended and need to welcome other guests. In the summer the hot tubs take around 1-1.5 hours to get hot and in winter 2-2.5 hours. Once hot they will retain heat well so much quicker to re-heat the following days!
10 / Do you provide towels?
Yes, we provide fluffy bath towels and separate hot tub towels. We also provide cosy bathrobes for you to snuggle into after a hot tub or for lazy morning breakfasts.
